Hi, my name is Özgen, and I’m a professional tour guide.
I was born on a cold day in January 1990 in Istanbul and raised there until I was 17 years old. I was sent to private Doğuş elementary, middle, and high school. Upon graduating from high school at the age of 17, I moved to Canada to study English. During my second year in Canada, I decided to continue my journey abroad and study psychology. After doing so for 3 years, I realized psychology doesn’t suit me, and I came back to Turkey at the age of 22, in 2002.
Luck struck me the day after my plane landed in Istanbul, a family friend informed me that they have a position open in their travel agency, and that’s how my life started in the tourism industry. Thanks to my psychology education and my effective English skills, I quickly became a people person in the agency.
Since I was a child, I was always interested in history and geography. It was my childhood dream to be a historian. I am very social and outgoing and I enjoy helping and guiding people. With all of these combined, it was clear my destiny was to become a tour guide.
I enrolled myself back in university to study tour guidance, which I completed in 2 years. In 2015 I have finally became a tour guide. As soon as I got my diploma, I enrolled myself in university again to study history to fulfill my childhood dream. I was working during summers and studied in winter for the past 4 years. In 2021, I finally became a historian.
